Solar energy is widely used in homes, hospitals, schools, and public facilities due to its energy efficiency and protection of the environment from pollution. However, a major obstacle for solar cells is the accumulation of dust on the panel surface. This reduces solar radiation and affects the efficiency and production of energy. To prevent this problem, Razan Jumah Ayash from Jorden, under the guidance of Jonah, has built the SolarShine: Solar Cell Cleaning Initiative project using PictoBlox.
The system measures the rate of dust build–up on the solar panels at regular intervals. When the dust rate reaches 15%, the dust sensor triggers an alert to activate the water pump. The pump then sprays water onto the solar panels to clean them and increase their performance. The project also integrates PictoBlox‘s Display Modules-Evive & Arduino Library to control the various display modules. To help with the identification of numbers, signs, and other objects, the project uses the Recognition Cards, a pre–trained AI model.
By using the SolarShine: Solar Cell Cleaning Initiative project, users can better prevent dust build–up on the solar panels and increase energy efficiency and production.
