This project was inspired by the need for effective crowd management on a bridge that collapsed in Morbi, Gujarat. It addresses the challenges of overcrowding and minimizing the risk of bridge collapse. The team utilized Arduino Uno, ultrasonic sensors, servo motors, a breadboard, a buzzer, and an LED to create a smart hand band that visitors receive at the entrance gate.
The smart hand band features a timer set for 20 seconds. Once a visitor enters the bridge, the system detects their presence using ultrasonic sensors and automatically opens the gates. The timer starts, and if the visitor fails to exit within the designated time, a buzzer sounds and an LED blinks. It signals to the security team that it’s time for the visitor to leave the bridge.
By implementing this time-bound system, crowd management becomes more efficient, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all bridge visitors.
